I know it has been a while since I've been on here. Lots has been going on. I now have a High School Senior, Freshman and a second grader. Wow! Where does the time go? Soccer and cheerleading are about in full swing again. I have been busy making skin salves. I have started doing a few shows and have them on my etsy store. They are all natural, made with Olive Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Jojoba Oil, Coconut oil, she butter, beeswax and emu oil. The original "Essential Skin Salve" also contains, avacado, almond and apricot oils as well as many essential oils including tea tree, eucalyptus & lavender. It is a lemon-vanilla scent. The "Peppermint-Citrus salve" also contains tea, tree, peppermint, and eucalyptus oils. We have used the "Essential Skin Salve" on bug bites, chiggers, cuts, sun burn, and my husband even said it made his poison oak stop itching (and he usually has to get a shot). It is a great all-around moisturizer for your skin. I use it on my face twice a day and I don't have break-outs any more! We use the "Peppermint-Citrus Salve" on sore, achy muscles. I have fibromyalgia and it makes my calves, thighs and feet feel better. I also use it on my temples when I have a headache (just don't get the peppermint salve in your eyes). The salves sell for $10 each for the 2 oz. tins (or 3 for $25). I also offer small tins (.25 oz) for $3.50 each (4 for $12) The small ones are great to carry in your purse or pocket (I use them as lip balm).

From now until September 15, I am having a contest. I have a goal of selling 2500 of the 2 oz. tins. If we meet our goal, we will give away a gift basket valued at apoprox. $250. You are entered once for every 2 oz. tin you buy and again for sharing our salves and contest on social media. (Be sure to let me know you shared it and where so I can give you credit.) It will be on my personal Twitter page (@JaAnnaBWinslow), my facebook page (Paisley Trading Co.) and my http://instagram.com/paisleytrading. We MUST meet our goal for the give-away to happen so be sure to share with all of your friends!

Come on over to my etsy shop to place your order or comment on the facebook page with what you want and your email address and I will handle your order form there!

I hope everyone has a blessed evening!

Spring, Spring, Where art thou, Oh Spring?

OK... a little bit dramatic, but this is getting crazy. We're in North Carolina for goodness sake; we should be picking buttercups by now! To be honest, I know they said the ice was coming, but I just didn't believe it. It came. :( The ice came down, the trees came down, the power lines came down... You get the picture! Now, in true North Carolina style... just one day later... 65 degrees; and today was 70. There are still a lot of people (and schools) without power... therefore, a beautiful spring day, the kids are out of school!

We enjoyed another beautiful day on the farm. I don't know exactly what it is, but I just love it. It is home! I love the room to roam, the kids having all the outdoors to run around, the animals everywhere...! Can't wait to have a garden. I have been making more of my all natural "That Farm Chick" Essential Skin salve and Essential Pain Salve. Everyone seems to like it. I have gotten great reviews so far. I will have it available on my website and etsy soon!

It's time to go do my devotions for the night. Have a blessed night!

Winter Thunderstorms, Snow & Baby Emus

Winter here in central NC can be a wide range of things. This winter has been the extremes. We've gone from record cold, to snow, to thunderstorms, to near 80 degrees and back again. We are still riding this roller coaster this week as well. While we are adjusting our wardrobes daily, the Emus don't really like it. It is rough on them, but they are hardy birds and have fared well, considering. We actually have baby emus hatching this week. We are so ready to get the house and start working on it. Trying to sell a house in the winter is not easy.

It looks like our roller coaster weather is continuing this weekend. There is a chance of a "wintry mix" tonight and tomorrow morning, then climbing to near 70 on Sunday. We're going to look past his and move on. We have a big day tomorrow. Karsan's all-star cheer teams are performing tomorrow. And, my adult coed team is also performing. Yes, that's right... "iFly"! I'm so excited. I feel 18 again. Well, in my mind... my body doesn't necessarily agree. But we have been having so much fun! I'm also trying to find time to get some more of my "That Farm Chick Essential Skin salve" made this weekend. I'm down to only 3 jars. They are selling really well. I already have people coming back for a second jar because their spouse took the first one! It really does seem to work well. I don't even have them listed on my etsy page or my webpage. One more thing I've got to do this weekend!!

I hope you all enjoy your weekend and stay warm (or cool).

Blessings,

JaAnna

Sweet, Southern Snow!

We had our big snowstorm! Now its over. We had 3 days to play, build snowmen, have snowball fights, make snow cream, sled, and get stuck in the snow. Now its over; most of the snow is gone. In a few days it will be nothing but a distant memory as our temperatures approach 70 degrees this week. Yes, I said 70! That is North Carolina weather! You've got to love it!

While being snowed in, I made some Essential Skin Salve! (That Farm Chick) I hope to get it posted on my facebook page by tomorrow and my website up and going later this week. It will also be available at Paisleytrading.com.

The skin salve is my own combination of Organic Coconut oil, Organic EVOO, African Shea Butter, Jojoba oil, and a blend of essential oils including Melaleuca oil, Lemon/Eucalyptus oil, Peppermint oil, Lavender and Emu oil. All of these have skin healing properties and other health benefits. So far, I have had rave reviews from everyone who has tried it. I use it daily!

I hope it is starting to warm up wherever you are! I will wish the warm air toward you all!

Be safe and have a blessed day!

Back to School!

What a week! The kids started at their new schools Monday and have now completed 1 1/2 days. They had an early release Tuesday due to the impending snow; school was closed Wednesday and Thursday; and they went back today at 11 am. So far, so good, though. They both seem to like it and are making new friends.

The emu's have survived the cold we've had this week. We have had some unusually cold temperatures here this winter. At least 2 nights it dipped into the single digits. (I know my friends up north are laughing, wondering what the big deal is, and my friends further to the south are sitting their with their mouths wide open, saying "bless your heart!".) We are not used to this kind of cold and neither are our animals. We have to make lots of extra preparations for them when our temperatures drop like that. There is good news... this weekend it is supposed to be 60! Our water will thaw back out.

I have been cleaning the house all week and have enlisted the kids help while they were out of school. We are showing it this weekend. Let's keep our fingers crossed... maybe this will be the one! Can you tell I'm getting excited about the move to the farm?

I hope everyone has a wonderful day! I will try to be back later with a craft or recipe tonight.

Blessings,

New Schools and Snow!

The older kids started at their new schools today. They were excited and a slight bit nervous. I am anxiously awaiting the after school phone call to see how their day went! All that being said, the weather people are calling for snow here tomorrow afternoon through Wednesday morning. The "arctic blast" is heading this way and they are saying their is low pressure system developing off of our coast. The last time we had this cold/coastal low combination, we got 20" of snow! That was 14 years ago. Since then, we probably haven't had a total of 20" in all that time!

Well, I'm showing the house this coming weekend. Hopefully things will go well. I'm also trying to sell some of the furniture. I'm just ready to start new... new (old) house, new furniture, etc... That Farm Life is looking so good. I have lots of ideas. I've got to slow down and take them one at a time. Can't do but so much at once... especially working full time. One of our neighbors at the farm just had a baby miniature donkey! It is so cute! We will have to get some donkeys. Besides being cute, they keep the coyotes away.

I hope everyone has a blessed day... stay warn!

Farm Life!

Well, we are trying to sell our house. (If you know anyone wanting to move to the central part of North Carolina let me know) We are making the move to Farm Life! 50 acres our in the country raising emus, cows, dogs, cats (hopefully adding miniature donkeys and goats), along with lots of vegetables! Everyone is excited about making the move! The kids start their new schools on Monday. It will be quite a change for them. My 13 year old will now have almost as many kids in her 8th grade class as she has now in her entire middle school. The 16 year old will be fine once he learns his way around a much large school as well. The little one get to stay where she is, so she is disappointed. We have her in a Christian school which happens to be on my way to work. The "farm" is my family homeplace. It is where my great-grandparents, lived, my grandparents lived there for a while, and I grew up there. I am so excited about my kids having the opportunity to experience this life now too. My hope is to blog each day about how progress is going both with selling the current house, and fixing up the farm house, as well as how everyone is adjusting. I have lots of projects I want to work on in both houses, so I will post as many as I can get done. I also hope to add recipes and more. Please spread the word and help me get my blog off the ground! I am so excited about our new adventure and can't wait to dive into the Farm Life!

Be sure to check out my webpage: paisleytrading.com and my Etsy page. Have a blessed day!
