Back to School!

What a week! The kids started at their new schools Monday and have now completed 1 1/2 days. They had an early release Tuesday due to the impending snow; school was closed Wednesday and Thursday; and they went back today at 11 am. So far, so good, though. They both seem to like it and are making new friends.

The emu's have survived the cold we've had this week. We have had some unusually cold temperatures here this winter. At least 2 nights it dipped into the single digits. (I know my friends up north are laughing, wondering what the big deal is, and my friends further to the south are sitting their with their mouths wide open, saying "bless your heart!".) We are not used to this kind of cold and neither are our animals. We have to make lots of extra preparations for them when our temperatures drop like that. There is good news... this weekend it is supposed to be 60! Our water will thaw back out.

I have been cleaning the house all week and have enlisted the kids help while they were out of school. We are showing it this weekend. Let's keep our fingers crossed... maybe this will be the one! Can you tell I'm getting excited about the move to the farm?

I hope everyone has a wonderful day! I will try to be back later with a craft or recipe tonight.

Blessings,

New Schools and Snow!

The older kids started at their new schools today. They were excited and a slight bit nervous. I am anxiously awaiting the after school phone call to see how their day went! All that being said, the weather people are calling for snow here tomorrow afternoon through Wednesday morning. The "arctic blast" is heading this way and they are saying their is low pressure system developing off of our coast. The last time we had this cold/coastal low combination, we got 20" of snow! That was 14 years ago. Since then, we probably haven't had a total of 20" in all that time!

Well, I'm showing the house this coming weekend. Hopefully things will go well. I'm also trying to sell some of the furniture. I'm just ready to start new... new (old) house, new furniture, etc... That Farm Life is looking so good. I have lots of ideas. I've got to slow down and take them one at a time. Can't do but so much at once... especially working full time. One of our neighbors at the farm just had a baby miniature donkey! It is so cute! We will have to get some donkeys. Besides being cute, they keep the coyotes away.

I hope everyone has a blessed day... stay warn!

Farm Life!

Well, we are trying to sell our house. (If you know anyone wanting to move to the central part of North Carolina let me know) We are making the move to Farm Life! 50 acres our in the country raising emus, cows, dogs, cats (hopefully adding miniature donkeys and goats), along with lots of vegetables! Everyone is excited about making the move! The kids start their new schools on Monday. It will be quite a change for them. My 13 year old will now have almost as many kids in her 8th grade class as she has now in her entire middle school. The 16 year old will be fine once he learns his way around a much large school as well. The little one get to stay where she is, so she is disappointed. We have her in a Christian school which happens to be on my way to work. The "farm" is my family homeplace. It is where my great-grandparents, lived, my grandparents lived there for a while, and I grew up there. I am so excited about my kids having the opportunity to experience this life now too. My hope is to blog each day about how progress is going both with selling the current house, and fixing up the farm house, as well as how everyone is adjusting. I have lots of projects I want to work on in both houses, so I will post as many as I can get done. I also hope to add recipes and more. Please spread the word and help me get my blog off the ground! I am so excited about our new adventure and can't wait to dive into the Farm Life!
